I have always believed that imparting your knowledge helps you develop a better understanding of key concepts in any discipline. The fulfillment obtained by teaching has kept me motivated to be a better researcher as well as a high-quality teacher. During my time as a master’s and a doctorate student at Arizona State University (ASU), I have been fortunate to be taught by many great faculty members. The passion, the genuine concern for student’s learning and career development that they showcased were an inspiration for me. This motivated me to take up the career as an educator. My teaching philosophy is based on creating an environment that motivates students towards the subject matter, as well as fosters an environment to learn beyond the classroom. I also believe effective communication with students is quite important. Students respond very well when I genuinely express my concern for their learning. A friendly demeanor, flexible office hours, personalized mentorship, and constructive open discussions on the topics covered in the classroom have worked very well to this end.
